Récréation s’inspire des jeux, des cachettes et des comptines. La suite de tableaux s’ouvre par une nuée de grelots, comme la sonnerie d’une école. L’orchestre se reconstitue lentement, autour de ses familles d’instruments, et de jeux d’imitations. Les grincements et les souffles servent bientôt de boîte à musique à une petite valse, rêveuse. Réveil ! Suffit ! les mots sortent fort, et fissurent les formes ! Un bref retour de la valse plus ample et romantique rassemble l’orchestre et l’emmène, à petits pas, vers le finale, percussif et festif ! Récréation est une pièce pédagogique pour que les enfants s’approprient leurs environnements et leurs instruments, et pour que les adultes se souviennent que la récréation est importante.
Récréation is inspired by games, hiding places and nursery rhymes. The suite of paintings opens with a cloud of jingle bells, like the ringing of a school bell. The orchestra is slowly reconstituting itself around its families of instruments, and imitations. The squeaks and the breaths soon serve as a music box for a small waltz, dreamy. Awakening! Enough! the words come out loudly, and crack the shapes! A brief return of the waltz more ample and romantic gathers the orchestra and takes it, in small steps, towards the finale, percussive and festive! Récréation is an educational piece for children to appropriate their environments and instruments, and for adults to remember that recess is important.
Recreation ist inspiriert von Spielen, Verstecken und Kinderreimen. Die Reihe der Bilder beginnt mit einer Wolke von Glocken, wie das Klingeln einer Schule. Das Orchester baut sich langsam wieder auf, um seine Familien von Instrumenten und Imitationsspielen. Das Knarren und der Atem dienen bald als Spieluhr für einen kleinen, verträumten Walzer. Wecker! Genug! Die Worte kommen laut, und die Formen knacken! Eine kurze Rückkehr des größeren und romantischeren Walzers versammelt das Orchester und führt es in kleinen Schritten zum festlichen, perkussiven Finale! Recreation ist ein pädagogisches Stück, damit die Kinder sich ihre Umgebung und ihre Instrumente zu eigen machen können und damit sich die Erwachsenen daran erinnern, dass Erholung wichtig ist.
